Take me away

by Lifehouse

This time, what I want is you
There is no one else
Who can take your place
This time, you burn me with your eyes
You see past all the lies
You take it all away
I've seen it all, and it's never enough
It keeps leaving me needing you

Take me away
Take me away
I've got nothing left to say
Just take me away

I try to make my way to you
But still I feel so lost
I don't know what else I can do
I've seen it all, and it's never enough
it keeps leaving me needing you

Take me away
Take me away
I've got nothing left to say
Just take me away

Don't give up on me yet
Don't forget who I am
I know I'm not there yet
But don't let, me stay here alone

This time what I want is you
There is no one else
Who can take your place
I've seen enough, and it's never enough
It keeps leaving me needing you

Take me away
Take me away
I've got nothing left to say
Just take me away

Take me away
Take me away
I've got nothing left to say
Just take me away

a Serengeti Proverb

Every morning in Africa, a gazelle wakes up. It knows it must run faster than the fastest lion or it will be killed.

Every morning in Africa, a lion wakes up. It knows that it must outrun the slowest gazelle or it will starve to death.

It doesn't matter whether you are a lion or a gazelle ,when the sun comes up, you'd better be running.

it's been a good week...

I finally get to finish a week on a good note.

There is not much left to do this week when I left for my weekend.
I made sure I had checked our system for any outstanding work, after I had cleared my to-do-list.
The SSL certificates had been ordered.
And, I had set up the new Windows servers to integrate with the API queue of our Orders/Billing system.
I then got up and washed my coffee mug and signed off.
Grabbed my gloves and scarf and had left the office at 5:17 pm.

Finally...

I get to enjoy that small feeling of pride from a job well done.

It's funny how things sometimes work out...

I had met Scott at the local servo when I was filling up my car.
This was a man I worked with at the Academic & General Bookshop an while ago.

It was totally unexpected...

But, it is always good to meet an old comrade.

He had asked, "... still seeing Leanne?"
I really didn't know how to answer him.

While I was at working at A&G, I was attached to Leanne then.
I really will say that it was a great experience working with your girlfriend.
She would stay over and we'd sit the tram to work together.
We'd have lunch and enjoy each other's company when things got quiet.
Then I would walk her to the bus stop after we had closed and wait with her.
Or, we'd go home together...

Since the nature of things had changed, the world has moved on.
I had answered, "... well I'm not seeing her anymore. Things just didn't work out."

"Sometimes, things just don't work out."

"It's funny how things sometimes work out..."

on Alvin Chan

A man who begins life with not much will struggle to survive. He will have to work hard to carve a place for himself in this world. Yet, one would expect this man to be frugal and selfish.

But this is not the character of my friend. This friend is practical and wise. When I fell down, he had helped pick me up. I have a few people in the world who I know will watch my back.

Alvin is one of them.

pokes at GOM in his cage...

omg...

I was so grumpy at work today.

I think this is insomnia for me.
I didn't really sleep much the night before.
I had d/led this huge heap of mangas.
And, I got carried away reading them...

I got to the office feeling really, really shitty today.
David... the office GOM (general operations manager) had gotten all picky with me.
Sorry dude, I know I had baited you...
He was all huffy and puffy about the fact we all got paid late this week.

And, the office was a mad house...
There were 2 major products of ours that had launched, were not quite working.
My team were giving back refunds left, right and centre.
I wondered to myself why we had launched products that were not quite working.
Our rather small clientbase was already pissed off at us 'cause we have had a bad round of the fair-few-technical-issues recently.
We just had to compounded the problems with this new fiasco...

Anyway, it's back to work tomorrow.
I got a round two with my little integration problem... heh!
It's gonna be me, trying my best to get ModernBill (payment system) to play nice with HELM (server management system).

Seriously, the whole integration bit about IS systems really sucks.
But, apparently it is where the bulk of the next wave of consultancies are going to be in.

I just want a quiet week where we have no issues, "no fires to put out..."
